Business Relocation Assistance

The City of Rochester's Department of Neighborhood and Business Development has worked diligently with the former Midtown Plaza tenants to assist them to relocate either within downtown or elsewhere.

Rochester City Council approved relocation costs for Midtown business owners for up to $5.5 million. This included additional financial assistance that was offered to those businesses that relocated within the city. Additional assistance was provided through a new Neighborhood and Business Development Department program entitled, "Midtown Business Retention Grant Program."

At the time the City of Rochester acquired Midtown Plaza, 45 businesses were tenants at the property. The City successfuly relocated 24 tenants to new locations within the city of Rochester. Three tenants relocated to areas outside the city and 18 business decided not reopen. All tenants have now vacated Midtown Plaza. Click here for a list of Midtown tenants and their relocation status.

For further Midtown Plaza business relocation information, contact Steve Golding of the City's Department Neighborhood and Business Development at 585-428-6895, or Stephen.Golding@cityofrochester.gov.
