SIDEWALKS AND SKYWAYS

Construction fencing was put up on November 3 .

(View a map of the fence perimeter plan).

Motorists and pedestrians are advised of the following sidewalk and parking restrictions:

  • The sidewalk will be closed on the north side of Broad Street-between South Clinton Avenue and Chestnut Street.
  • The sidewalk will be closed on the west side of Euclid Street-from East Main Street to Atlas Street.
  • A 14-ft.-wide pedestrian walkway will be maintained along the southern sidewalk of East Main Street-between Euclid Street and South. Clinton Avenue.
  • A 6-ft.-wide pedestrian walkway will be maintained along of the eastern side of South Clinton Avenue-from East Main Street to Broad Street.
  • There will be no parking on Euclid Street November 2 - 6, 2009.
  • Bus stops, bus shelters and crosswalks in the area will not be affected by the installation and will remain accessible. Signs will instruct pedestrians where to cross. Installation of the fencing is not expected to delay motorist traffic.

The Midtown Parking Garage closed to the public on September 30, 2008.  All pedestrian skyway access to the Midtown Parking Garage has closed including the pavilion at southeast corner of Clinton Avenue and Broad Street.

The pavilion was constructed to provide skyway access from the Xerox, Frontier and Bausch & Lomb buildings to the Midtown Parking Garage.  The pavilion connection was maintained and operated by an adjacent private property owner. When the garage closed, the property owner was not obligated to maintain the pavilion connection.  Once the Midtown Garage reopens, it is the intent of the City to reopen the pavilion.  A schedule for reopening of the garage and pavilion has not yet been developed.
